Equestrian Programs

Summer Campers, grades 3 and up, may register for horse camp or horseback riding lessons.  Campers learn how to ride English or Western, how to tack up their horse, how to groom their horse and more!  Campers have the opportunity to show what they know on the first day so that our instructors can provide the best instruction possible.

Riders Round Up-Overnight (girls only)

A traditional overnight camp experience with an equestrian focus.  This program provides the best of both worlds.  Stay in our multi age, girls only Equestrian Cabin and spend your days with all of our other horse crazy campers. Campers are grouped according to skill level and will spend part of each day at the equestrian center learning stable management skills as well as improving their riding skills. Campers will also have the opportunity to bring in and feed horses in the morning and enjoy an evening trail ride.  When not at the barn, campers will be able to try their hand at traditional activities such stand-up paddle boarding, climbing tower, archery, arts and crafts.  No experience necessary for this program, just a love of horses. End your session with a riding demonstration on check out day.

Horse Lovers Day Camp

Grade 3 and up, boys and girls

A traditional day camp experience with an equestrian focus.  This program provides the best of both worlds.  Campers are grouped according to skill level and will spend part of each day at the equestrian center learning stable management skills as well as improving their riding skills.  Campers will head out for a trail lunch as well as participate in a riding demonstration on Friday.  When not at the barn, campers will be able to try their hand at traditional activities such stand-up paddle boarding, climbing tower, archery, arts and crafts.  No experience necessary for this program, just a love of horses.

Equestrian Leader In Training Program (girls only)

Grade 9-10
Overnight Sessions 2 and 4
Day Camp Sessions 2-3, 6-7    7:15AM-5PM and includes breakfast.

Introducing our NEW Equestrian Leader In Training Program, this program is designed for those interested in becoming equestrian staffers in the future.  Campers will focus on horse care, stable management, advanced first aid for horses, leadership skills and have daily riding lessons to improve personal riding technique.  Campers will be actively involved in all the day-to-day horse care from morning feed to final turnout, including assisting our younger campers who are learning basic skills. Equestrian Leaders In Training will put all their skills together in an end of session demonstration!

Campers should already be able to groom, tack, and lead a horse, mount/dismount unaided, ride at the walk and trot with good balance and control and be able to ride simple patterns at the trot without breaking gait.

Weekend Trail Ride (Overnight)

1.5 hours – lesson in ring followed by trail – ages 10 and up

Your camper will head up to the barn during their weekend stay to experience camp by horseback.  Before heading out, riders will participate in a mini lesson focusing on basic skills.

Campers have the opportunity to join us for a Saturday trail ride, all trails will be the Saturday following the end of your week.  Before heading out, riders will participate in a mini lesson focusing on basic skills.

Pony/Horse Rides

Ages 3-9 (Overnight, Day, Dragonfly)

Add on a one-time pony/horse ride to your camper’s week.

Safety

Campers participating in any Equestrian program are required to wear long pants and shoes or boots with a 1/2-1″ heel.  Camp provides safety helmets but campers may bring their own riding helmet if they prefer. Campers’ helmets will be inspected by the Equestrian Director to be sure they meet safety requirements.

All Ranch programs have a weight limit of 225 pounds.

Riding Lessons are Weather Dependent-alternate activities will be provided if inclement weather occurs.
